- We'll get in touch if we need any additional information.
About Veterinary Medicines
Prescription-only veterinary medicines (POM-V) can only be supplied when a valid written veterinary prescription has been provided. Prescriptions must be issued, signed, and dated by a veterinary surgeon registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and practising in the United Kingdom.
Most veterinary prescriptions remain valid for up to six months from the date of issue, unless your vet specifies a shorter period.
Prescription medications can only be delivered to the address stated on the prescription.
PetRemedies can only dispense the medication, quantity, and dosage instructions specified by the prescribing veterinarian. Initial orders must be placed within the prescription's validity period.
A veterinary prescription is a legal document containing important information about the animal being treated, the prescribed medication, dosage instructions, supply quantity, repeat authorisations (if applicable), and details of the prescribing veterinary surgeon. Prescription details must not be altered. If you believe any information is incorrect, please contact your veterinary practice to request an amended prescription.
If your veterinary surgeon determines that your pet requires a prescription-only medicine, they are legally required to provide a written prescription upon request, although they may charge a reasonable fee for issuing it. You are not obliged to purchase the medication directly from your veterinary practice and may choose to have it dispensed by PetRemedies instead.
For urgent or short-term treatments, obtaining medication directly from your veterinary practice may help avoid delays. However, for ongoing or long-term conditions, purchasing through Pet Remedies may offer a more cost-effective option.
